Uryū Ishida is one of the main characters in Bleach. He is a Quincy, a member of a near-extinct group of spiritually aware humans who specialize in archery-based techniques to hunt Hollows, using reishi (spiritual particles) gathered from the environment to form weapons like his signature spiritual bow.
He is introduced as a tall, slender, bespectacled high school student with straight chin-length black hair that frames his face, often appearing calm, intelligent, and somewhat aloof or prideful. Early on, he harbors a deep grudge against Soul Reapers (Shinigami) due to historical conflicts between the two groups, which initially puts him at odds with protagonist Ichigo Kurosaki. Over time, he becomes one of Ichigo's closest allies and friends, despite their frequent rivalry.
Uryū is highly skilled, analytical, and prideful about his Quincy heritage (especially his sewing skills for modifying his uniform and gear), and he values honor and precision in battle. He plays a major role throughout the series, including key arcs involving the Quincy legacy and the Wandenreich.
