Renji Abarai

Renji Abarai is a major character in the anime/manga Bleach.

He's a lieutenant of the 6th Division of the Gotei 13, serving under Captain Byakuya Kuchiki. Renji is a tall, athletic Shinigami with distinctive bright red hair usually worn in a long ponytail (with several small braids or ornaments), tattoos (zigzag patterns) on his forehead, eyebrows, and parts of his body, and a very expressive, rough-around-the-edges personality.

Key traits:

• Hot-headed, brash, and extremely competitive
• Deeply loyal (especially to Rukia Kuchiki, his childhood friend)
• Has a strong sense of pride and often acts cocky, but shows a softer, caring side to those close to him
• Famous for his huge grin and dramatic entrances

His Zanpakutō is Zabimaru (a name he shouts very enthusiastically), which is a whip-like sword in Shikai form ("Howl, Zabimaru!") and later achieves a powerful Bankai called Hihio Zabimaru.
