Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto

Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto is the Captain-Commander (head captain) of the Gotei 13 in Bleach, the Soul Society's military organization.

He is an extremely old, powerful, and imposing shinigami who has led the Gotei 13 for over 1,000 years. Known for his stern, no-nonsense personality, immense wisdom, and absolute dedication to protecting Soul Society, he is widely regarded as the strongest shinigami alive during most of the series.

Key traits and appearance:

• Very elderly appearance (long white beard, wrinkled face, scars)
• Usually wears the traditional white haori with gold trim over captain's uniform
• Walks with a wooden cane (which is actually his sheathed zanpakutō)

Zanpakutō: Ryūjin Jakka (one of the oldest and most powerful fire-type zanpakutō in existence)

• Shikai command: "Breathe" (or "Set ablaze")
• Bankai: Zanka no Tachi — an overwhelmingly destructive fire-based ability so powerful it can incinerate anything it touches and has apocalyptic-level potential.

Yamamoto is a legendary figure who commands immense respect (and fear) from allies and enemies alike, and serves as one of the central pillars of authority in the Soul Society arc.
