Jean Kirschtein

Jean Kirstein (also spelled Kirschtein in some translations) is a major character in Attack on Titan. He's a graduate of the 104th Training Corps, ranking 6th overall, and originally from the Trost District inside Wall Rose.

He initially joins the military hoping for a safe, comfortable life in the Military Police Brigade inside the interior walls, showing a pragmatic (and somewhat self-centered) attitude early on. He's often blunt, sarcastic, arrogant, and clashes frequently with Eren Yeager due to their opposing views—he tends to prioritize survival and realism over reckless heroism.

Physically, he's depicted as average height with a muscular build, short light ash-brown/grayish hair (often with an undercut), intense light-brown eyes, and a long face that's jokingly called "horse-like" by some characters.

Over the course of the series, Jean undergoes significant development, growing into a capable, level-headed leader who deeply cares for his comrades and ends up joining (and rising in) the Survey Corps/Scout Regiment despite his original intentions. He's known for his honesty, tactical thinking, and eventual willingness to fight for what's right, even when it's difficult.
