Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? (also known as DanMachi for short) is a fantasy adventure anime (based on the light novel series) set in the bustling city of Orario.

The story follows Bell Cranel, a naive and ambitious young adventurer who dreams of becoming a legendary hero like those in the tales he grew up with. In Orario, adventurers join Familias led by gods and goddesses, gaining strength by exploring a massive, multi-level underground Dungeon filled with monsters, collecting magic stones to level up.

Bell starts as a complete rookie and the sole member of the tiny Hestia Familia, led by the cute but broke and boisterous goddess Hestia. He heads into the Dungeon daily to fight monsters and grow stronger.

The title's cheeky question comes from Bell's initial (somewhat literal) hope of meeting cute girls in the Dungeon — but things take a turn when he gets rescued by the beautiful and super-strong swordswoman Ais Wallenstein (from the powerful Loki Familia), instantly developing a massive crush on her. This sparks his determination to level up quickly so he can stand by her side one day.

The series blends action-packed Dungeon crawling, RPG-style progression (stats, skills, leveling), comedy (especially Hestia's jealousy and antics), light romance/harem elements, and epic moments as Bell rises from underdog to a rising star in Orario.
