Aster Phoenix

Aster Phoenix (known as Edo Phoenix in the Japanese version) is a key character in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, introduced in the second season.

He is a child prodigy and world-famous, top-ranking professional Duelist, adored by fans globally for popularizing the game. Despite his celebrity status, he enrolls as a freshman at Duel Academy with a hidden agenda.

Aster is an intelligent, well-mannered vigilante driven by a strong belief in destiny, often leading him to challenge top opponents. He starts as an anti-hero (and rival/foil to Jaden Yuki), initially blinded by a stubborn, pessimistic outlook and a personal mission tied to avenging his father's fate and reclaiming his stolen "Destiny HERO" cards (created by his father, a card designer). He uses a "Destiny HERO" archetype deck.

Over time, his character develops, showing good intentions beneath his serious and sometimes sarcastic demeanor.
