Takemichi Hanagaki (often nicknamed Takemitchy) is the main protagonist of the Tokyo Revengers anime.
In the present day (around 2017–2018 in the story), he's depicted as a 26-year-old part-timer/freeter living a bleak, directionless life—unemployed or in low-paying jobs, low self-esteem, and calling himself a "loser." After learning that his middle school ex-girlfriend Hinata Tachibana (and her brother) have been killed by the Tokyo Manji Gang (Toman), he's pushed onto train tracks and mysteriously time-leaps back 12 years to his middle school days in 2005.
In the past, Takemichi is an average-height teen with light skin, bleached yellow/blond hair (often styled in a faux hawk or tousled), and blue/gray eyes. He starts out as a timid, easily frightened crybaby who apologizes constantly, gets emotional quickly (he's famously prone to crying), and lacks fighting skills or confidence. Despite this, he has strong determination and a kind heart—he repeatedly pushes himself to change the future and save Hinata (and later others), even when facing brutal delinquents and overwhelming odds.
Over the course of the anime, his repeated time leaps and experiences gradually build his resolve, turning him from a complete coward into someone with unshakeable conviction who inspires and unites others in Toman, though he remains more mentally resilient than physically strong.
