About Dreyfus

Dreyfus is one of the Great Holy Knights of the Kingdom of Liones in The Seven Deadly Sins anime (also known as Nanatsu no Taizai). He serves as co-leader of the Holy Knights alongside Hendrickson and is portrayed as a dignified, serious, and highly dutiful knight fully committed to protecting the kingdom and preparing for the predicted Holy War—even if it means extreme measures like capturing the king or prioritizing military strength over civilian welfare.

He has long brown hair (shoulder-length in the anime), a short beard, and wears distinctive red armor with spiked shoulders (which later gets damaged in battle). Dreyfus is the younger half-brother of the former Great Holy Knight Zaratras, the father of Griamore (showing deep care and grief when his son appears to die), and uncle to Gilthunder.

A major plot point is that much of his early antagonistic role stems from being possessed by the demon Fraudrin (a fact revealed later), who uses his body to help orchestrate key events like the murder of Zaratras and framing the Seven Deadly Sins. Once freed, the real Dreyfus shows deep remorse for his past actions (including jealousy toward his brother) and shifts toward seeking redemption while retaining his strong-willed, honorable core as a knight.

In the anime's early seasons, he's initially presented as a formidable authority figure opposing the Sins before his true circumstances come to light.
