Lay Grandsley

Lay Grandsley (also spelled Lay Glanzudlii or similar variations in different translations) is a key supporting character in the anime The Misfit of Demon King Academy.

He is a transfer student at the Demon King Academy and a member of the "Cohort of Chaos" (or Generation of Chaos). Nicknamed the Demon Swordmaster (or Saint/Master of the Magic Sword), he is an exceptionally skilled swordsman with the unique ability to control and wield any sword he touches, including forging or mastering magical swords.

In appearance, he is depicted as a handsome young demon with shoulder-length white (or light gray) hair and blue eyes, often wearing a long-coat version of the academy uniform in black and red tones typical of pureblood/royal students.

Personality-wise, Lay is laid-back, mellow, friendly, and easygoing—unusually humble and kind for a powerful pureblood demon, showing no arrogance toward others (including hybrid demons) and getting along well with both royal and non-royal students. He becomes one of the few characters capable of matching or challenging the protagonist Anos Voldigoad in swordsmanship and combat, earning mutual respect, and he joins Anos's circle early on.
