Goto Ryuji

Goto Ryuji (also referred to as Ryuji Goto in some localizations) is a prominent supporting character in the Solo Leveling anime, particularly featured in the Jeju Island raid arc during Season 2.

He is portrayed as Japan's strongest S-Rank hunter and the Guild Master of the Draw Sword Guild (sometimes called the Blade Guild). In the anime's depiction, he appears as a handsome, muscular man with shaggy black hair and a neatly trimmed black beard. His eyes can glow white when using his powers or when agitated, and he typically wears a dark battle uniform while wielding a long red katana.

Personality-wise, Goto outwardly comes across as calm, collected, polite, and composed — rarely showing overt alarm or anger. Beneath this facade, however, he is deeply arrogant, overconfident, and has a callous disregard for human life, especially when it serves his ambitions or pride. He struggles to accept anyone being stronger than him and is willing to sacrifice others (including allies) for personal gain, as seen in his scheming during the Jeju Island events. His fragile ego becomes evident when confronted with overwhelming power.
