Volkner

Volkner is the Gym Leader of Sunyshore City in the Sinnoh region in the Pokémon anime (Diamond & Pearl series). He specializes in Electric-type Pokémon and is regarded as the strongest of the Sinnoh Gym Leaders, awarding the Beacon Badge to those who defeat him.

Appearance: He is a young man with spiky blonde hair, blue eyes, and typically wears a black T-shirt layered under a collared blue jacket that has yellow accents and black sleeves.

Personality: Volkner is a highly skilled and passionate Trainer at heart, but he has grown somewhat bored and unmotivated due to the lack of challenging opponents (as the top Gym Leader, few can give him a real fight). This leads him to lose some enthusiasm for battling until strong challengers—like Ash—reignite his excitement. He shares a close friendship (and past rivalry) with Flint of the Elite Four, who helps motivate him in the anime. Overall, he's cool, confident, and electrifying in battle when properly engaged.
