Byron is the Gym Leader of Canalave City in the Sinnoh region in the Pokémon anime (specifically Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl). He specializes in Steel-type Pokémon and awards the Mine Badge to trainers who defeat him.

He is the father of Roark (the Oreburgh City Gym Leader), and a key part of his anime storyline involves family dynamics—he previously served as Oreburgh's Gym Leader before moving to Canalave to pursue his passion for fossils and digging on Iron Island, which created some tension with his son.
