Akaya Kodai

Akaya Kodai is a supporting/antagonist character in the Maken-ki! anime (appearing prominently in Season 1 as the leader of the mercenary group Venus, and with a minor role in Season 2).

In the anime adaptation, he's portrayed as a handsome, charismatic young man with pale skin, orange (sometimes described as brown-toned) hair featuring a distinctive cowlick swept to the left, and eyes that appear purple/blue (shifting to green in Season 2). He's the sole male member and commander of Venus, a group mostly composed of attractive female mercenaries.

Personality-wise, Akaya comes across as a suave, self-confident gentleman and a classic "ladies' man" — extremely charming and flirtatious, with an irresistible appeal to women (even affecting characters like Furan). He often strikes dramatic poses, flicks his hair, and exudes narcissism while flaunting his good looks and abilities. He's cool-headed in combat, using his Maken (a special revolver called Swindle) that fires bullets with varied effects like illusions, hypnosis, vision manipulation, and dummies.

He has a past connection to Tenbi Academy (as a former member of the original Maken-ki group before it went all-girls), and his arrival at the school sparks conflict with the main cast, particularly challenging protagonist Takeru's ideals. In the anime's storyline, he's more of a rival/antagonistic figure during the Venus arc, with a mix of arrogance and calculated demeanor rather than outright villainy in every scene.
