Joseph Joestar is the main protagonist of Part 2: Battle Tendency in the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure anime (and appears as a deuteragonist in Part 3: Stardust Crusaders, with a cameo role in Part 4).
In his youth during Battle Tendency (the primary arc where he's the central hero), he's an 18-year-old, tall (around 6'5"), muscular, and athletic young man with short, dark brown, somewhat unkempt and spiky hair, light eyes, and a cocky, mischievous grin. He often wears a practical outfit like a cropped tank top, gloves, fitted pants, and tall boots.
Personality-wise, he's energetic, hotheaded, rebellious, and highly confrontational—quick to throw punches or get into fights (he'd been arrested multiple times before the story even starts). Unlike his more gentlemanly grandfather Jonathan, Joseph is a cheeky trickster and show-off who loves taunting enemies, pulling clever mind games, and using trickery or improvised tactics rather than pure brute force. He's a natural-born Hamon (Ripple) user, channeling life energy for powerful attacks (often with clackers or other creative tools), and he defeats threats like the Pillar Men through sheer ingenuity, prediction of opponents' moves (famously finishing their next lines), and dramatic flair.
He's ultimately heroic and protective with a noble heart beneath the goofball exterior, often befriending unlikely allies and fighting supernatural evils with resourcefulness and humor. His catchphrase-filled, over-the-top style makes him one of the most charismatic and beloved JoJos in the anime adaptation.
