Saddler

Saddler is a minor antagonist in How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord (also known as Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shoujo no Dorei Majutsu).

He is a paladin (holy knight) affiliated with the church, possessing strong magical abilities (particularly "holy" magic) and a level of power comparable to or greater than top fighters like Galford.

Saddler is characterized by extreme arrogance, a god complex (he delusionally believes he is a physical incarnation of God or god-like), sadistic tendencies, and a fanatical hatred for Demon Lords, their worshippers, and anything related to demons or demihumans. He uses accusations of Demon Lord worship as a pretext to torture and execute people, framing his cruelty as divine justice or "salvation."

In the story, he confronts Diablo (the protagonist) and his group, condemns them for associating with a Demon Lord, attacks Rem, and attempts to use petrification magic—only for it to be reflected back at him. He later returns seeking revenge but meets a fittingly ironic and pathetic end when overpowered, breaking his delusion of divinity.

Overall, he's portrayed as a one-dimensionally vile, self-righteous zealot and one of the more hateable early antagonists in the series.
