Chester Ray Galford

Chester Ray Galford is a supporting character in How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord (Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shoujo no Dorei Majutsu).

He serves as the feudal lord (governor) of Faltra City, a key fortress city, and holds the rank of Lieutenant General. He is a renowned veteran hero from 30 years prior, notably for his major role in defeating the Demon King of the Brain (Enkvaros) during the war against the Demon Lord's forces.

Galford is an extremely skilled swordsman, capable of high-speed combat with precise, efficient movements. He is portrayed as arrogant, condescending, brutally honest, and highly prejudiced (racist toward non-humans, sexist, and dismissive of adventurers). Despite these flaws, he prioritizes the safety and well-being of Faltra's citizens above all, even if it means ruthless decisions like holding hostages or pursuing aggressive military actions against threats (such as the elves).

He clashes with the protagonist Diablo early on, underestimating him and attempting to seize control in situations involving Shera, which leads to a duel where Diablo defeats him. He appears in both seasons of the anime as a minor but memorable authority figure.
