Issei Hyoudou

Issei Hyoudou is the main protagonist of the anime High School DxD.

He's a high school student at Kuoh Academy and a member of the infamous "Perverted Trio" (along with his friends Matsuda and Motohama), known throughout the school for his extremely lecherous personality, constant fantasies about girls (especially breasts), and his openly declared dream of building a massive harem and becoming the "Harem King."

Despite his perverted, somewhat dim-witted, and breast-obsessed nature on the surface, Issei is actually kind-hearted, fiercely loyal to his friends, determined, and brave when it counts—especially after he gets killed on a date by a fallen angel and is reincarnated as a devil by Rias Gremory. He becomes her servant (starting as a Pawn in her peerage), joins the Occult Research Club, and wields the powerful Sacred Gear Boosted Gear (housing the Red Dragon Emperor Ddraig), which lets him grow dramatically stronger over the course of the series.

His mix of shameless perversion and genuine heroism is a core part of what drives the story's ecchi-action-comedy tone.
