Van

Van is the new Hero in the anime adaptation of Banished from the Hero's Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside (primarily appearing as a major antagonist in Season 2).

He becomes the bearer of the Hero's Blessing after Ruti Ragnason abandons her role. In the anime, Van is portrayed as a young man (appearing early to mid-teens) with dark blue hair, red eyes, and fair skin, often seen wearing dark blue plate armor with gold trim.

Personality-wise, he's extremely egotistical, fanatical, and views the world in strict black-and-white terms — anyone not aligning with his rigid ideals of heroism and fighting evil is deemed a heretic or enemy who must be eliminated. He becomes obsessed with fulfilling his role as the Hero at any cost, showing little regard for the suffering of others (including his own party members) and relying heavily on his Blessing's power rather than personal skill or growth. This makes him a stark contrast to characters like Ruti (who resisted her Blessing) and Red/Gideon.

His actions drive much of the conflict in Season 2, including attempts to force others into his vision of heroic sacrifice and later seeking revenge after losing his Blessing.
