Asada Shino

Asada Shino (朝田 詩乃), better known by her in-game alias Sinon (シノン), is a key character introduced in the Phantom Bullet arc of the Sword Art Online anime (Season 2).

In the real world, Shino is a high school girl who appears quiet, somewhat withdrawn, and mature for her age. She has short dark hair (with small side ribbons), pale skin, black eyes, and wears half-rimmed glasses. She carries deep trauma from a childhood incident involving a gun, which left her with a severe phobia of firearms and led to social isolation and bullying.

In Gun Gale Online (GGO), her primary game at first, she adopts the avatar Sinon—a calm, confident, and highly skilled sniper renowned as one of the game's top players. Her avatar features short light blue/teal hair, turquoise eyes, and a tactical desert-camouflage outfit (including a signature white scarf/muffler often used as a face mask). She wields the rare PGM Ultima Ratio Hecate II anti-materiel sniper rifle as her main weapon.

Her personality in-game is cool-headed, composed under pressure, and professional during battles, earning admiration from others—though she can have a sharp temper, especially when provoked (notably by Kirito). Despite her tough exterior, she uses the virtual world as a way to confront and gradually overcome her real-life fears. Later, she transfers to ALfheim Online (ALO) as a Cait Sith archer with blue hair, cat ears, and tail, maintaining her precision-based combat style.

Overall, Shino/Sinon stands out for her strong character growth, starting from someone haunted by her past and evolving into a more open, resilient person through her experiences and friendships (particularly with Kirito and others). She's often described as calm and collected yet capable of intense emotion when it matters.
