Brassius

Brassius is the Grass-type Gym Leader of Artazon in the Paldea region, appearing in Pokémon Horizons: The Series.

He is portrayed as a passionate and eccentric artist who views Pokémon battles as a form of art and draws heavy inspiration from Grass-type Pokémon for his sculptures (such as elaborate pieces featuring Sunflora, Rayquaza, and others). His design reflects this theme: he has distinctive green hair styled like thorny vines, gray eyes (often with noticeable bags underneath, giving him a somewhat weary look), and wears a red long-sleeved shirt with a yellow collar (featuring thorny rose bud motifs), black pants, green shoes, and carries a gray vine whip at his waist.

In the anime, Brassius is shown to take his artwork very seriously. He experiences periods of creative slump or artist's block (for example, after witnessing a legendary Pokémon like the black Rayquaza, which left him feeling his own creations were inadequate). He can be temperamental or intense when inspired or upset (often using words like "avant-garde" dramatically), but he is ultimately supportive and reignites his passion through interactions with challengers like Roy, leading to Gym battles and artistic growth moments. His personality blends artistic sensitivity with a flair for the dramatic, making him a memorable mentor figure in the Horizons series.
