About Akari Watanabe

Akari Watanabe is the main female protagonist of More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers (Fuufu Ijou, Koibito Miman).

She's a high school student and a classic gyaru—outgoing, confident, extroverted, and stylish, with a brash exterior that makes her seem popular and a bit shallow at first. She starts off dismissive of her assigned "practice husband" Jirō Yakuin, as her real goal is to score high in the school's marriage practical program to switch partners and end up with the popular Minami Tenjin.

Beneath that flashy, bold gyaru persona, Akari is actually very sweet, kind, emotionally sensitive, and surprisingly shy (especially around true intimacy). As she spends more time living and cooperating with Jirō, she gradually develops genuine feelings for him, shifting her focus from her initial crush to wanting a real relationship with Jirō. She's often praised for her positivity, maturity, and supportive nature as the story progresses.
