Mr. Popo

Mr. Popo is a supporting character in the Dragon Ball anime (appearing from the original Dragon Ball series onward through Dragon Ball Z, GT, Super, etc.).

He serves as the loyal attendant, groundskeeper, and assistant to Earth's Guardian (Kami in the earlier parts of the series). He resides on the Lookout (Kami's floating palace) high above the Earth, where he maintains the grounds, tends to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber (Room of Spirit and Time), and often acts as a gatekeeper or tester for those seeking an audience with the Guardian.

In appearance, Mr. Popo is a short, plump, humanoid figure with a notably dark complexion, large eyes, red lips, pointy ears, and typically wears a white turban (with a gem), white harem-style pants, a blue vest-like top, and red slippers—giving him a genie-like aesthetic.

Personality-wise, he's calm, polite, patient, and often speaks in a formal or simple manner (depending on the dub/sub version). He has a serene demeanor, rarely shows strong emotion (though he can be stern when training others), and displays surprising wisdom from his immense age—he's functionally immortal and has served multiple Guardians over centuries.

In the anime, he's revealed to be an extremely skilled martial artist (far stronger than early Goku when first introduced) and serves as a key trainer for several Z Fighters, including Goku, Krillin, Tien, Yamcha, and others, preparing them for major threats like the Saiyans. Despite his power, he usually stays in a supportive role rather than fighting directly in major battles.
