Shamil Volkov

Shamil Volkov is a supporting character in the anime Dr. Stone, appearing primarily in flashback sequences related to the International Space Station (ISS) crew and the origins of Ishigami Village.

He is a Russian cosmonaut and Soyuz pilot who joins the ISS alongside Byakuya Ishigami and Lillian Weinberg. While in orbit, he witnesses the mysterious petrification event that affects everyone on Earth's surface.

Shamil is depicted as stoic, serious, pragmatic, and a man of few words—often the opposite of the more outgoing Byakuya. He's highly focused on work and efficiency, considering himself a loner, with a personality that Byakuya compares to Senku's logical and driven nature. Despite his no-nonsense demeanor, he shows a gentler, more sentimental side in personal moments, such as mourning his wife Connie.

In the story's backstory (covered in the anime during the Village Origins Arc and related episodes), he becomes part of the small group of surviving astronauts who descend to the petrified Earth and help lay the foundations for what becomes Ishigami Village. He is voiced by Showtaro Morikubo in Japanese and Patrick Seitz in English.
