Tanjiro Kamado

Tanjiro Kamado is the main protagonist of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.

He is a kind-hearted, determined teenage boy with a strong sense of justice and compassion. Tanjiro comes from a poor family that made and sold charcoal in the mountains. After his entire family is slaughtered by a demon and his younger sister Nezuko is turned into a demon, he joins the Demon Slayer Corps with the goal of turning Nezuko back into a human and avenging his family by defeating Muzan Kibutsuji.

Key characteristics:

• Exceptional sense of smell (can detect emotions, track demons, and even identify different breathing techniques by scent)
• Wears a signature hanafuda-patterned checkered green-and-black haori over his Demon Slayer uniform
• Uses Water Breathing initially, later develops his own Hinokami Kagura (Sun Breathing) style
• Personality: Extremely empathetic, polite, hard-working, protective (especially toward Nezuko), and refuses to give up even in hopeless situations
• Trademark appearance: burgundy hair with a distinctive scar on his forehead, warm reddish-brown eyes with hanafuda earrings

He's widely regarded as one of the most wholesome and morally upright shonen protagonists.
