Kōzaburō Arase

Kōzaburō Arase (also romanized as Kozaburou Arase or similar variations) is a supporting character in the Dead Mount Death Play anime.

He is a detective working for the third Materials Compiling Group in Shinjuku's community safety division of the police. A former yakuza member, he brings his underworld experience and connections into his police work, often handling shady or intense situations.

In appearance (as shown in the anime), he has short black hair, tanned/brown skin, a lean and athletic build, and typically wears a black shirt tucked into trousers, sometimes with a grey jacket. He has a prominent large yakuza tattoo on his back featuring a tiger motif with flowers and water elements.

Personality-wise, Arase is portrayed as brave, highly skilled in combat, and naturally inclined toward violence, often described by others (and even self-reflectively) as a "wild animal," "carnivore," or someone who solves problems with force. He's dangerous, intimidating (many normal people fear him), and serves as the more physical, rough "bad cop" counterpart to his partner/boss Tsubaki Iwanome's analytical style. He acts protectively toward Iwanome and isn't hesitant to get rough when needed.

Voiced by Nobuhiko Okamoto (Japanese) and Derick Snow (English dub). He appears as a recurring figure in the police-related plotlines across both cours of the anime.
