Hajime Nagumo

Hajime Nagumo is the main protagonist and anti-hero of Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest.

Initially, he was an ordinary, somewhat timid high school otaku with black hair, brown eyes, a slim build, and a kind, gentle personality. Summoned to the fantasy world of Tortus along with his classmates to fight as "heroes," he received the weak, commonplace job of Synergist (transmutation magic) and low stats, leading to bullying and ostracism from his peers.

After a betrayal during a dungeon expedition left him presumed dead and abandoned in the depths of the Great Orcus Labyrinth, Hajime underwent a dramatic transformation. To survive the hellish environment, he consumed monster flesh, which mutated his body: his hair turned white, his eyes became crimson (often with one covered by an eye patch), and he gained a muscular, imposing physique with red tattoo-like lines. This change also hardened his personality—he became ruthless, pragmatic, cold-blooded toward enemies, and willing to kill without hesitation anyone who threatens him or his loved ones, earning nicknames like "Monster of the Abyss" or "God Slaying Demon King."

Despite his merciless side, Hajime remains fiercely protective of his harem and close companions (like Yue, Shea, and others), showing loyalty and care for those he trusts. He's highly intelligent, inventive (crafting guns, artifacts, and advanced weaponry using his Synergist abilities), and driven by the single-minded goal of returning to Japan while dismantling threats in his path.
