About Hajime Kokonoi

Hajime Kokonoi, commonly known as Koko, is a supporting character in the Tokyo Revengers anime. He's a sharp, calculating teenager with a strong obsession with money and financial schemes, often using his genius-level talent for generating (and managing) funds to support various gangs.

In the anime adaptation, Koko has a lean build, stands around 174 cm tall, and sports distinctive black hair styled in a deathhawk (wavy and swept to one side on the right, with the left side featuring shaved rectangular patterns). He has piercing black eyes, thin arched eyebrows that give him a perpetually intense or angry expression, fair skin, and a golden dangling earring on one ear. His overall look is sleek and stylish, often dressed in formal or gang-uniform attire that matches his calculated vibe.

Personality-wise, he's cool-headed, pragmatic, and highly self-interested—he views everything through a lens of profit, strategy, and personal benefit, rarely letting emotions cloud his judgment. He's materialistic and willing to switch allegiances when it suits him (or when someone loses their "value"), but his money-driven mindset stems from a tragic past involving desperation to fund medical treatment for someone close to him (Akane Inui, sister of his childhood friend Seishu Inui/Inupi). This backstory adds depth, showing his cynicism and ruthlessness as rooted in unresolved trauma rather than pure greed.

In the anime arcs where he appears prominently (like Black Dragon and Tenjiku), he's portrayed as a key financial pillar for groups like Black Dragon (as Elite Guard Captain) and later Tenjiku (as Treasurer), before aligning with others like Tokyo Manji Gang and Kanto Manji Gang in different timelines/contexts. He's often paired with Inupi in a notable "dog-and-cat" dynamic duo. Voiced by Natsuki Hanae in Japanese (and Howard Wang in English dub), Koko stands out as one of the more intellectually driven and morally complex figures in the series.
