Hapu

Hapu is a character from Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon (the Alola saga of the anime).

She's the Island Kahuna of Poni Island, specializing in Ground-type Pokémon (her main partner is a strong Mudsdale). In the anime, she initially appears as a hardworking, somewhat antisocial young girl living alone on Poni Island's Ancient Poni Path, tending to her radish fields with help from her Pokémon.

Physically, she's depicted as very short and petite with tan skin, gray eyes, rosy cheeks, thick bushy eyebrows, and long black hair styled in two large braids. She wears practical farming/work clothes like a khaki shirt, baggy khaki pants, black boots, and often a purple bonnet or accessories suited to fieldwork.

Personality-wise, she starts off quite gruff, quick to jump to conclusions (like accusing others of stealing her crops), stubborn, and a bit lonely due to few people her age on the island and her strong respect for traditions passed down from her late grandfather (the previous Kahuna). Over time, through interactions with Ash and his friends, she warms up, becomes more open and friendly, grows as a person and battler, and ultimately receives official recognition from Tapu Fini as the new Kahuna in a traditional ceremony.

She's portrayed as a "small but strong" type—diligent, mature for her looks, and deeply tied to her island's customs and her Pokémon companions.
