Brain Unglaus

Brain Unglaus is a highly skilled human swordsman in the Overlord anime, widely regarded as one of the strongest warriors in the Re-Estize Kingdom—rivaled only by Gazef Stronoff.

He originally hailed from a farming background but possessed exceptional, almost god-given talent with the sword. After losing to Gazef in the finals of a grand tournament to determine the kingdom's strongest fighter (and thus the king's personal guard), his perfect record was broken. This drove him to become a mercenary (notably with the Death Spreading Brigade) in pursuit of even greater strength to surpass his rival.

Appearance: He has blue hair, brown eyes, and a lean, battle-hardened build that gives him a wild, beast-like presence. He typically wears chainmail and carries protective magic items like a necklace and ring.

Personality & Development: Initially arrogant and overconfident in his abilities, his worldview shatters after a terrifying encounter with Shalltear Bloodfallen, leaving him depressed and humbled by the vast gap between humans and true power. Later interactions (especially with characters like Climb and Sebas Tian) help him rebuild, shifting his focus toward a broader understanding of strength beyond just personal sword skill. He becomes more grounded, loyal, and ultimately heroic in his final actions.

He's a memorable side character who highlights the overwhelming power disparity in the series while showing impressive human growth and determination.
