Mai Zenin is a supporting character in Jujutsu Kaisen. She is the younger twin sister of Maki Zenin and a second-year student at Kyoto Jujutsu High. As a member of the prestigious but oppressive Zenin clan, she was mistreated growing up due to her limited talent for jujutsu (and the clan's sexist/traditionalist views on women and twins).
Physically, she looks almost identical to Maki but with shorter hair—typically mid-length black hair (appearing dark green in the anime), reaching her neck with side-swept bangs, and dark brown/amber eyes.
Personality-wise, Mai comes across as snarky, rude, cynical, and antagonistic—especially toward her sister and rivals. Much of this stems from resentment, trauma, and being forced into the sorcerer life against her will (unlike Maki, who actively rebelled). Her cursed technique, Construction, allows her to create a single bullet per day from cursed energy, which she uses as a sharpshooter.
Her arc explores a complicated, bittersweet sibling relationship with Maki, marked by conflict, shared pain, and eventual deeper understanding.
